Attractions
When they have free time on their agendas, delegates can switch off meeting mode and enjoy performing arts, visual arts, family fun, great outdoors, history and more.
Cultural District
The Cultural District features five major world-class theaters plus smaller performance venues and cutting-edge art galleries. It is an easy walk from the DLCC and Downtown hotels, and it provides plenty of post-meeting entertainment.
Benedum Center for the Performing Arts: This historic theater hosts concerts, Broadway musicals and a wide variety of regional, national and international arts events.
Byham Theater: This intimate theater hosts events for smaller and mid-size performing arts groups.
Cabaret at Theater Square: The place for late-night entertainment, this new venue hosts live music and theatrical performances year-round.
Heinz Hall: This classic theater is the place to see Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra performances, Broadway shows and visiting stars in concert.
O'Reilly Theater: In this contemporary theater, the audience surrounds the stage on three sides. Pittsburgh Public Theater presentations include world premieres, new works, musicals, classics and more.
Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre: Widely acclaimed for its classical ballet masterpieces as well as innovative explorations of contemporary dance, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre is one of the world's leading ballet companies.
Museums and Cultural Institutions
Pittsburgh's cultural legacy can be found throughout several museums across our 90 neighborhoods, including four Carnegie Museums. The city also features one of the oldest botanical conservatories in the country and is home to the National Aviary.
Carnegie Museum of Art features distinguished masterpieces of French Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and 19th-Century American art. Paintings, prints and sculptures by old masters rub shoulders with works by contemporary artists. This museum is host to the prestigious Carnegie International.
Carnegie Museum of Natural History is called the "home of the dinosaurs" for its famed skeletons of Tyrannosaurus rex, Diplodocus and other extraordinary fossils. The museum also displays more than five million specimens from all areas of natural history and anthropology.
The Andy Warhol Museum is the largest single-artist museum in the world, featuring thousands of pieces by the Pittsburgh-born artist and cultural icon, as well as rotating special exhibitions, installations and musical performances.
The Carnegie Science Center features a four-story Omnimax theater, an interactive planetarium, a real Cold War submarine and hundreds of hands-on exhibits that bring science alive for visitors of all ages.
Children's Museum of Pittsburgh is consistently rated one of the best children's museums in the country. The museum features interactive exhibits, a workshop, nursery, theater and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens was built more than 100 years ago and offers a feast for the senses. Tropical plants, a butterfly garden, orchids and seasonal flower exhibits are just a few of the pleasures that can be found in this charming glass palace.
The National Aviary, a unique Pittsburgh treasure, is home to more than 500 exotic and endangered birds in natural habitats.
Outdoor Adventure
Pittsburgh is an urban oasis in the middle of the Appalachian with all of the big-city amenities that travelers love paired with just as much nature to be explored. From more than 180 miles of trails, 176 parks and 700 outdoor stairways to more than 30 miles of riverways and 446 bridges just within city limits, you don't have to go far to enjoy being outdoors in Pittsburgh. Just head toward one of our three rivers. Riverfront trails are perfect for jogging, walking and biking.
Venture Outdoors now offers kayak rentals from its Kayak Pittsburgh Downtown community hub, right outside of the DLCC, allowing visitors to get outdoors, float around The Point and experience our beautiful city from a whole new perspective.
